Rafael's interest in psychoanalytic thinking took root in 2009 when he first began learning at various psychoanalytic schools, institutes, and associations. His clinical practice is grounded in psychoanalytic theory and technique as understood mainly through the lineage of Freud and Lacan, with input from Bion, Winnicott, and others. He continues to pursue this work through various paths including: writing, presenting, supervising, teaching, and attending conferences, classes and seminars. Rafael has been supervising since 2011, and teaching classes since 2020, primarily at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. He is a member of the School of Psychoanalysis of the Forums of the Lacanian Field and The Colorado Analytic Forum of the Lacanian Field.
